THE WALLS OF WOODMYST GOES LIVE

This week has been an exciting one.
After weeks and weeks of waiting for the final touch ups, The Walls Of Woodmyst is live on Amazon and iBooks.
It's the first in a ongoing series. I won't dare say that I intend to stop revisiting Woodmyst in future novels because I do like visiting the place once in a while.
The Walls Of Woodmyst was also my very first attempt at writing in the Fantasy genre. I don't know if I was truly successful at sticking to the format of most other writers of the genre as I expanded into areas of suspense, action and horror a few times throughout the tale.
The main thing that stuck out for me when I was writing this book were the twists that my characters took me on. Unexpected twists.
Just when I thought that I knew where the story was going (and yes, I did some planning beforehand) a character would take a turn and change the direction of the narrative.
For those who have read The Walls Of Woodmyst... Yes, the big twist was one of the ones that took me by surprise.
I loved it when my own creation took me for this ride. Absolutely brilliant!
It just proved to me that no matter how much planning we may do, no matter how much preparing you undergo, someone or something is just silly going to come and wreck it all, and sometimes for the better.
My advice to any aspiring authors, independent writers or hobby novelists like myself is to let your characters direct you.
Yes, plan your book. Perhaps a beginning middle and end. But be prepared to go anywhere. Once your characters get their voice, they will tell you what they want to do and it isn't always what you want them to do.
