BREATHING EASY... NOT QUITE.

Hi.
I'm Robert E Kreig and I make stuff up.
Today, I start to ponder what my next writing adventure will be.
I have a large number of ideas, a tonne of notes on scrap paper, and a million images swirling around in my twisted head.
But, which one shall I choose to embrace?
To explain, I have just sent the last three manuscripts of the Woodmyst Chronicles to my editor. This doesn't mean that I've ceased working on them. It does mean that we have neared the end of the journey though.
The series will finish off with Book X, which continues to follow the key protagonist of the series Alice, who has only just been introduced to you, the reader, in The Huntress of Woodmyst: The Woodmyst Chronicles Book V.
Throughout the remainder of the series, we will get to see Alice develop and mature as a leader, face unspeakable obstacles of horror and perilous danger, all the while trying to understand herself and who she is as she progresses into adolescence.
I must admit that, whilst I am sad that Woodmyst is almost behind me, I had fun writing the series, allowing the characters to dictate the direction that the story took. In truth, I would never have considered putting such a young girl through such paces, nor exposed her to the things she saw, heard and experienced. At times, I needed to walk away and really think about what it was that I was writing.
There were times that I deleted and rewrote sections, only to have Alice's voice rebuke me from inside my mind, telling me that my corrections were not who she was, commanding me to return the text to how it was originally.
As a result, I have learnt to listen to my characters, even if I disagree with them.
After all, what I write isn't my story, it's theirs.
So now, as I bring the Woodmyst Chronicles to a close, I hope that Alice and the others she encountered on her journey are happy with what I did.
I hope you, the reader will enjoy the story as it unfolds through each of the upcoming books.
All I can say for now is that you'll need to keep your eyes peeled this year for the next chapter in the series, The Shadow of Woodmyst: The Woodmyst Chronicles Book VI.
Until then, happy reading.
